Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

You'll know if I'm the right therapist for you if you feel comfortable and understood during our sessions. It's important that you can openly share your thoughts and feelings without judgment, and that I genuinely listen to your concerns. If my approach resonates with your needs—whether you prefer structured guidance or more exploratory conversations—you should feel supported and empowered to make progress. Over time, you should notice small shifts in how you feel or approach challenges. Additionally, if you're able to communicate openly about what’s working and what’s not, and feel that I adapt to your feedback, it’s a strong sign that we're on the right path together.

Do you provide in-person or online counseling?

All counseling sessions are conducted through the HIPAA compliant version of Google Meets. Established clients can also hold some sessions by telephone, if needed. I am not providing any in-person counseling.

What should I expect in my first session?

In the first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and discussing your concerns, goals, and any past experiences that might be relevant. I’ll ask about your history, and we’ll also talk about what you hope to achieve through therapy. We’ll set the groundwork for how our sessions will work, and I’ll answer any questions you may have.

How often should I come to therapy?

The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Most clients begin with weekly sessions, but some may find bi-weekly or even monthly sessions more appropriate as therapy progresses. We can adjust as we go along.

Do you accept insurance?

I accept a variety of insurance plans. Please reach out to confirm whether your insurance is accepted or if I can provide you with a superbill to submit for reimbursement. If I don’t accept your insurance directly, I offer competitive out-of-pocket rates, and some clients are reimbursed by their insurance for out-of-network services.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential, meaning that anything we discuss will remain private. However, there are some exceptions, including if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others or if required by law (e.g., subpoena or mandated reporting). I will always discuss any exceptions with you if they arise.

How do I get started?

To begin therapy, simply reach out via phone, email, or my online contact form. We can schedule a consultation to discuss your goals, and I can answer any questions you have. From there, we’ll book an initial session.
